Krav Maga is the official defensive tactics system of the Israeli Defense Force. It is also the preferred system for hundreds of local and federal law enforcement agencies and military units in the United States along with thousands of regular people just like you to keep you and your loved ones safe. Krav Maga does not use fancy and complicated moves like traditional martial arts and it is not a sport oriented system like boxig or MMA. Krav Maga is a reality based street and battle tested system with one goal in mind, GO HOME SAFE! We have no rules, no Katas, no uniforms, and no egos. Our techniques are based on instinctive movements so they are easy to learn and easy to remember under stress. They are also not dependent on size or strength so it can be used effectively by men and women of all ages. Learn to defend against common chokes, grabs, and bearhugs, as well as weapons such as guns, knives, and sticks.  Just as important, we teach people to function during the stress and shock of a sudden and violent encounter.  Tested on the battlefield and in the streets, Krav Maga's practical approach to self defense will make you safer and more secure.

    REAR NAKED CHOKE!

One of the common question regarding Krav Maga is if we do any type of ground work or Jiu Jitsu.  Krav Maga's principle on the ground is this. GET OFF THE GROUND AS QUICK AS YOU CAN!  Because of the dynamic nature of a fight and its enviroment, we believe it is too dangrous to stay on the ground especially with others around that can possibly attack you while you are trying to choke someone out.  With that said, we do train and learn basic grappling techniques such as arm bars and rear naked chokes and the defense against them.  Check out the picture of our lead instructor James performing the RNC escape during his black belt test.

DON'T TRAIN WITH A LAME ATTACKER

To many times in our training we defend against a partner that does not react like an attacker or an opponent by just standing still after the intial attack.  This is a huge flaw in our training and does not address the dynamic nature of the fight.  Do we know exactly how the other person will react?  No. But its safe to assume that they will move in some direction rather than stand still while you punch him as many times as possible.    It is very important to learn the perticular technique vs. a perticular threat but it is also as important to learn and practice your reaction vs. their reaction.

    Drills, Drills, Drills!

Drills, Drills ,Drills! A big part of Krav Maga training is the drills.  This is when you put everything you've just learned into what counts.  All the techniques don't matter if you can not apply and execute them under stress.  We do this by having the defender stand with their hands to the side, eyes closed, relax as much as they can when BAM!  Something happens and you have to fight for your life!

REAL LIFE KRAV MAGA TRAINING DRILLS #1

What good is self defense training if you can't relate it to a real life situation?  What good is training if all you do is train inside the comfort of a padded room with the attacker standing directly in front of you attacking in a controlled, predetermined manner?  We believe that everyone must train in a dynamic environment and apply the techniques under stress and fatigue in order for you to really learn and prepare for that real life situation.  In today's drill, we tested the parking lot scenario.  How long does it take to defend, counter attack, find your keys, unlock the door, and than get back in the car?  It's harder than you think!

    PERFECT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!

"Practice does not make perfect.  Only perfect practice makes perfect!"  This is a great qoute by Vinec Lombardi that we at Team CrossFit live by and use through out our coaching and teaching of both CrossFit and Krav Maga.  If you constantly practice your technique with bad form and faults, you will always do it with bad form and faults. You must try your best to learn and practice with the best possible "perfect" form at all time so that when its time to really use it, you can save your life and go home safe!  This is what makes Team CrossFit such a great place to learn Krav Maga.  We believe in small class sizes with multiple instructors so that you can get the personal attention in order to learn the technique correctly.  Check out Sarah and Jackie with some near perfect form.  Hands up, good fight stance, it doesn't get any better than that.
