Team CrossFit Kids is a Self-defense, Fitness, and Life Skills training program for kids. The program is designed to give each child a head start on preparing for the challenges that await them in the not too distant future. This is an exciting and rewarding program that provides students with skills and experiences that help them to learn how to be street smart and avoid being a victim. We motivate students to improve their overall level of fitness through games and circuit training routines that improve aerobic endurance, strength, speed, agility and coordination. This program will also rotate different life skill themes each week that focus on respect, discipline, teamwork, goal setting, leadership and more to help make them ready for all aspects life.
What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga is a simple and effective, self defense system that emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios. Team CrossFit Kids is our Krav Maga program designed for kids ages 6-12. It focuses on 3 important aspects of teaching kids to be safe, healthy and confident – self defense, fitness and life skills. Why should your kids learn self-defense? Watch this video!
How does Krav Maga work for children?
Our kids training emphasizes self defense against 2 main scenarios – bullying and abduction. In addition to self defense, we also teach our students how to use their common sense, words and body language to avoid potentially dangerous situations.
What is the goal of this program?
In addition to teaching kids how to physically defend themselves in a time of need, our goals are also to supplement and support what our students are learning at home and at school. Team CrossFit Kids will give your child the tools he/she needs to be successful in life. We emphasize the importance of being aware of surroundings, being physically fit, making healthy nutritional choices, doing well in school, social skills, being respectful and responsible and standing up to peer pressure.
Why take Krav Maga instead of a martial art?
Krav Maga is not a sport or a martial art. It is a system of self-defense. It will teach your child how to identify dangerous situations and how to either avoid them or how to act. Team CrossFit Kids program will teach real life self defense, build your child’s confidence in decision making, help him/her get into good physical shape, and best of all he/she will have fun.
Does Krav Maga advocate fighting?
This is a self defense, not fighting system. We consistently stress the differences between being offensive and being defensive. Our students understand that fighting is not allowed under any circumstances. Students who break these rules will not be permitted to train in this program. Fighting commonly stems from insecurities, a desire to prove something and often serves as an outlet for aggression. With the confidence we inspire in our students, and the physical challenges we provide in class, it is highly unlikely that any of our students would participate in confrontational behavior.
