Let’s put it this way. Before Team Crossfit I was in okay shape for a guy who had a total hip replacement. I mean, that’s what I thought considering the “personal rehab” I did at the gym. Turns out I couldn’t do a pull-up or a full 90 degree squat, heck, I was lucky if my atrophied butt could even support my own weight at say 45 degrees. And I was an athlete all my life. Ice hockey and football, you know, the cool contact team sports! Now, let’s talk about how Team Crossfit transformed me shall we. 10 pull ups in a row is routine now. My legs cannot only support a full squat, I can now do the prescribed weight for many exercises with full range of motion. Plus, I’m an actor so I’m inherently vain and I actually enjoyed my last headshot session feeling and looking a good 5 years younger than I really am. Chicks also dig it, too. Bonus!
What James has put together is something special. A community that thrives with a mixture of fun, intensity, personal accomplishment and incredible support. Sure, his jokes frighten people sometimes but I like him yelling at me to push me further than I ever would myself. That’s key. Here’s something I also find remarkable. I have not been sick once since doing Crossfit. Not even a sniffle. Fatigue sure, but not sick where you’re cradling the chicken soup. My body can handle stress so much better! In fact, my body now handles everything so much better. Life is just easier because getting through some of these workouts is a huge accomplishment and that transfers into your life experience as a whole. All you have to is show up and Team Crossfit does the rest. Period.

Wow.. It has been a month already? So far it’s been good. But I was depressed last week because I didn’t get to show up for any classes at all (busy schedule at work and school finals). I finally got in the Crossfit mode again this week.. and I died.. twice. But I feel great! It’s pretty addicting. I have to have my fix of that “good sore” feeling after class or else I feel crappy.
Anyway, the classes are fun, challenging, all together awesome. I enjoy meeting and working out with the other members who are all very friendly and helpful. The coaches are very patient, knowledgeable, funny, and encouraging. I love how they can sometimes be “pushy” but not mean at all. They just want me to be motivated and to make sure I do the exercises properly. I am very happy with my progress so far. When I first started Crossfit, I have never really “worked out” or even had the motivation to exercise. This membership changed that. It has only been a month and I have noticed a lot of changes with my body, attitude, and mood.
In conclusion to this short essay… I <3 Crossfit. I <3 Krav. And I’m hoping to rock this Paleo challenge since I am going on a tropical vacation this year. Y’know what that means.![]()

On my first day of Crossfit, James asked me “What are your fitness goals?”. I began describing how I wanted my body to change; that I wanted to be skinny. Fitness goals? What were those? I never thought about it before. Crossfit has challenged me in ways I never could have imagined. The workouts are insane but it’s become my addiction. I crave it. Everyone is so encouraging and the trainers are AMAZING. I entered into the paleo challenge and to my surprise, I won. I had been stuck in a rut and was starving everyday on Weight Watchers. My first reaction to paleo was “NO CARBS”? How can people not eat carbs? Three months into Crossfit and I feel energized and satisfied. Every week I’m accomplishing small fitness goals and walking out the door with an enormous smile on my face. I don’t want to be skinny. I want to be fit. When people ask me if I belong to a gym I tell them no, I belong to Crossfit. In my opinion, it’s far superior. Thank you Crossfit for changing my life.

I always knew there was something special missing from my workouts. Having been a competitive athlete since the age of 8, working out has always been a way of life. When real life took over my family, work, everyone and everything else became the priority. My mind state was like, “OK, I can get back in the gym and get back in shape in no time…just like the old days.” WRONG! I found when I did have time to get to the gym I was completely spinning my wheels in a monotony of exercises that were not giving me any results and was down right boring! Having been introduced to Team Cross fit on the first day of class, not having any expectations I found what I was always missing!! James and his staff offered me just the challenge I needed; they woke up my hibernated competitive spirit and reinforced things I had forgotten. They sat down with me and showed me exactly how to maximize my individualized program through Paleo eating and Bench mark work outs. The results have been mind-blowing! I am a 24 hour fitness member and have been for ten years. I have never seen such results in the past ten years at 24 as I have the past ten weeks at Team Crossfit. How much longer can I run on a treadmill and lift weights on a machine?! And I convinced myself that I was working out. Ha! Try a warm up at crossfit, then you’ll know the truth. Friends, colleagues and family have noticed the positive difference in my attitude and my body, which they remind me of almost everyday. I live in Hollywood and I make the trek because James and his staff are a fantastic group. There is no better investment you can make then the investment in yourself. It’s no joke – it’s absolutely worth it.

I wanted to thank you and your staff for all your advice and guidance from the paleo challenge and Crossfit Fitness. Over the past few months I can really see and feel significant changes. During the paleo challenge I lost approximately 20 pounds in 30 days. Since then I have continued on paleo and have lost even more weight. Currently I have lost about 50 pounds. I have enjoyed this eating routine so much I have adopted it as a lifestyle change. So much so that during Thanksgiving, I made for my whole extended family a paleo Thanksgiving dinner. They loved it.
The staff at Team Crossfit have been great mentors in my progress to better fitness. They are always available for questions regardless if my questions are about diet, or training. I still remember my first time at TCF; I was exhausted during the warm up. But I continued to improve on my technique all while slowly scaling up the difficultly of the exercises. I have changed so much that people now walk up to me and ask what have I done to change so much. The transformation really has been amazing. I am leaner, and have more strength, stamina, and confidence. I have seen benefits in both my work and family life. Thank you for everything.

When I started at Team Crossfit eight months ago, I weighed in at 230 pounds, which was the heaviest I’d ever been. I was doing a ton of emotional eating and my self-esteem had hit an all-time low. I had tried all kinds of different workouts…globo-gyms, free weights, treadmills, spinning, biking, power yoga…you name it, I tried it. Whenever I’d start a new program my results would peak after first few weeks and then I’d plateau. I would get discouraged with the lack of results and bored with the repetition and would eventually wind up quitting.
Eight months ago a friend talked me into trying Crossfit. From the first class I was hooked. Crossfit was the perfect solution to all the issues I’d had working out. Every day is something completely different so I’m never bored. The coaching is phenomenal. Not only do these guys help me perfect my form and movements, they stay on top of me and constantly push me to give the workout my all. One of the best parts about Crossfit is the time. Most workouts are less than 30 minutes, and in that short amount of time I’m able to achieve way more than I’ve ever been able to with much longer workouts. I’m a competitive person, and since we track all of our results, Crossfit provides the perfect opportunity to compete against not only my classmates, but myself.
Since starting Crossfit, I’ve lost over 40 pounds and added a ton of lean muscle. I started seeing results immediately and it hasn’t stopped. People stop me all the time and comment on how great I look. Physically and emotionally I’ve never felt better. Mentally I’ve never been tougher. I can’t recommend it highly enough…nothing I’ve tried even comes close.

Crossfit has brought a new meaning of balance to my life. Crossfit literally pressed my reset button for me. I can eat mindfully, I sleep better, and I’m stronger than I have been since I stopped doing gymnastics in high school. Crossfit gives me goals and a means to achieving them. It provides me with a sense of accomplishment every day, as well as a sense of progress. The Paleo Challenge reset my eating habits and taught me what truly gives me energy, how to make the right choices, and what my body really needs to perform at its best. I am still learning from Crossfit every time I come to workout, and I’m still learning how to make better decisions with every meal. But what Crossfit has also taught me is that as long as I do my best, try as hard as I can, learn, and dedicate myself, I can overcome any challenge.

I’ve been to some other crossfits nearby and i must say this is easily the best one. Crossfit affiliates are all about the coaching and I had the pleasure of going to James and Joyniers classes and they were both extremely knowledgeable. Not only did they help me out during there own class times but when they were not actually teaching a class and noticed my form and technique off, immediately came and helped. If you’re going to go to a crossfit gym, you want the one with the best coaches and this is the one with the best coaches in the valley. its all about seeing movement and knowing how to correct it, and these guys can do just that. Not to mention Ive heard they have a hall of fame olympic weightlifting coach.

I have never looked better (maybe when I was 18), felt better, performed better and or slept better. Crossfit combined with Paleo has completely transformed my body and I could not be happier. It pushes you harder than you would ever push yourself and do more reps than you ever thought possible but, the good news is you are not alone. TeamCrossift is comprised of an exceptional group of individuals and trainers, all with one common goal, to help each other get in better shape. I started about 2 months ago and I couldn’t be happier and healthier. My wife, friends and family ahve already noticed a remarkable difference in how I look and the fact that I feel even better than 2 months ago is an added benefit.
I have been an athlete all my life and have trained with some of the worlds top athletes. I am up there in my years and have not trained for a while, this is fun, exciting and constantly changing which equals to a challange. The work outs are exciting and intense, something I really enjoy, however, you can scale down you work outs to how you feel that day, it’s up to you to push yourself and set your own goals.
The trainers are attentive, knowledgable and inspiring. If you truly want to get in shape and are bored the the same old, same old at the gym. I highly recomend TeamCrossfit. Listen, they even help you with nutrition, you don’t really get that at any other gym that I know of.

Team Crossfit has changed my life! Not only am I looking better, but I feel better as well! Its not just a gym, its a family! You can take what you want from this studio…but if you are looking for more than a workout, this is the place for you! They have programs to help with nutrition, have challenges, as well as excursions to indoor rock climbing gyms and clay shooting if you want to sign up for it! Krav Maga AND Crossfit are offered here! Where else can you find that??? I recommend doing both! I have been with Team Crossfit since it started, and I would NEVER go back to a “regular” gym again! Crossfit is the best way to go! I have changed my idea of what working out should be…and best of all, changed my eating habits thanks to TEAM CROSSFIT! Crossfit has changed my life in ways I never really thought. I first joined for the fitness aspect. But it pushed me in ways I never even thought would be possible for me. I mean as hard as the workouts are it’s just as tough mentally. It pushed me through mental barriers of what I’ve come to expect out of myself in the past. I came from a COMPLETE non-fitness backround….and that is still is a huge understatement. I thought my work(construction)gave me enough of a workout. Well after one workout at crossfit, LOL I realized I was living in a dream world. I was a gym junky! Going five to six days per week, hooking myself up to all of these weird machines pushing weight in ways I will never use in my life. I joined Team CrossFit around April 2009; I have not been to the gym ever since, and I don’t miss it at all! The type of fitness work we do at Team CrossFit is not only educational, but it’s challenging. And more than that, it’s creating progress in many fitness areas that by going to the gym alone you will most probably not address….

For me, the most important things are the location, times, and the size of the Krav Maga classes. I also really like the way James teaches. Krav feels like one of the most natural of martial arts and it makes me feel strong and confident. At 53 years old, one is never too old to continue what we love.

I was the typical gym rat with a set routine in between triathlon training. Upper body one day, lower body the next, then run/spin for cardio. 3 ½ months ago I found CrossFit! What is it? It is the best workout I have ever done. It pushed me beyond the physical limits I could have ever imagined that I could do. In 3 ½ months I am stronger than I have ever been before. So I went back to the “old” routine at the gym. I have increased my “old weight” routine by 15-20lbs. I couldn’t believe how strong I had gotten in such a short time. When you walk into the “regular” gym, you pass by people and do your own thing. Here at Team CrossFit that’s not an option. You have the support of EVERYONE, including your trainer pushing you. Because of this, not only do you become stronger physically, but stronger mentally. Team CrossFit is awesome and so addicting! People are friendly and supportive. I get a good workout and the time flies. I can go with my husband and we both work hard though we’re at totally different fitness levels. Even if my kids wait another 10-years to make me grandkids, I’m feeling pretty sure I’ll be able to run around with them.

Joining the Team CrossFit community has been an amazing experience for me. As a runner and former gym rat I am truly impressed with the strength and fortitude I have earned in the past two months. The workouts are challenging, fun, diverse, and sometimes inconceivable, but I am always learning new skills and proving to myself that I can accomplish exercises that I thought were impossible. I have found that the teachers are very involved in my learning process, and are always there to answer questions, demonstrate proper form, and to make sure I am executing the skills safely and confidently. It’s also fun and motivational to see many of the same great people week after week training just as hard as I am (or harder!), and watching how they progress right along with me. It’s just great! Crossfit has gotten me into the shape I want to be and i’m still seeing improvements in my conditioning and strength. The people are great and the coaches really help you push yourself to your limit in order to finish the WOD’s. I used to spend hours in a gym lifting weights and what not, my first day of Crossfit, the workout took me 4 minutes and I was spent for the rest of the day. I’ve become a Crossfit addict!
