IMPORTANT NEWS AND UPDATES
FEW HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS
We are constantly in a quest to improve our facility and our coaching so please take a moment and read the following items:
- Coaching Survey – We want and need your feedback! Please take few minutes, complete this survey and tell us how you feel about your coaches. We are all looking for constructive criticisms so please be honest and vocal about your feelings! To start the survey, click – TCF COACHING SURVEY
- Refrigerator for the members – We now have a small refrigerator right under the stereo for anyone to use. Please feel free to put your drinks, protein shakes, etc to keep it cool during your class. One thing to note is that everything inside of it will be thrown away EVERY NIGHT. Please be sure to take your items when you leave
- Chalk box – The chalk box has been relocated and mounted next to the drinking fountain. When using chalk please remember that only a small amount is the most effective. There’s NO NEED to cover your entire hand or body with it. Chalk will also increase friction in your hands which will lead to more tearing during pull ups. We recommend that you do not use chalk to increase your hand strength and to minimize tearing
IT’S GOING TO GET HOT!
Summer time is right around the corner and that only means HOT HOT weather in the Woodland Hills area. It is the hottest part of the Valley and the temperature will get above 100 degrees during the summer months. We do have two air conditioning units for the gym but nothing will cool the gym down during the afternoon class time so please read the following suggestions below and be prepared:
- Stay hydrated! Make sure to drink water or your choice of liquid when ever you feel the need to
- Come to the early classes or the late classes. 5pm, 6pm will be the worst classes to attend. We will most likely open up couple 8pm classes if there is the demand
- Wear deodorant! It’s bad enough to be hot, sweaty, and sticky… we don’t want to add stinky to that so please come to the gym fresh!
- Bring a towel especially if you are going to take your shirt off. No one wants your sweat on them so please have a towel with you the whole time and make sure you are not spraying your neighbors with your sweat
SCHEDULE UPDATE
- Monday night Open Gym is moved to Tuesday night at 8pm
- Wednesday Krav Maga Advance is closed. It is replaced by CrossFit All Levels starting next Wednesday 9pm
- Memorial Day weekend schedule: Saturday 9am CF and 10am KM only. Closed Sunday. Monday 10am CF only
UPCOMING EVENTS
- May 6th @ 12pm – Beach day: It’s time to show off all that hard work at the gym! We will be having some fun in the sun playing volleyball, football, or just chillin out! This event is open for EVERYONE so please feel free to bring your family, kids, friends, etc.
- WHERE: Will Rogers State Beach
- WHEN: May 6th @ 12pm
- We will be set up on the north side of the main parking lot where the volley ball nets are set up. once you pay to park, continue driving north through the parking lot to the 2nd parking lot (drive through the road connecting the two parking lots). You will see several volleyball nets set up in a group. Park and come on down!
- May 12 @ night time – Movie night: We are going out to the Arclight in Sherman Oaks to watch the “Advengers”. If you are interested, please sign up on the board
- May 20th @ 10:30am – Lift Heavy S*** workshop: Come learn how to get super strong using the Westside Barbell and CrossFit Football method of weight lifting! Learn how to develop special strength from explosive strength, speed strength, strength speed, and what velocities they are trained at. How to use the power lifts through proper technique and the correct selection of special exercises to enhance the CrossFit athlete. This workshop will cover the proper techniques and methods of bench, squats, and deadlifts along with use of speciality accessories like bands, boxes, and chains.
